Okay I live in the South, and that's known as a pancake, not hash browns, hash browns are like shredded potatoes that are well brown and really good with ketchup, but syrup, yuck.

sure they're flat. you don't leave a pile of shredded anything untended on a cooking pan, after all. :)

thermos carry soup (as you point out), cocoa, and other drinks.
well, if you shake it too much, it will go POP! ;)
can't use tennis shoes on a golf course.
