Depending on your point of view, it's either

A) a chance to express how much the person you love means to you whether through anything ranging from genuine acts of romance to buying overpriced candy and dead plants

B) A holiday invented to sell greeting cards, bankrupt anyone in a relationship and rub salt in the wound's of anyone who isn't in one and wants to be.

Or

C) A great excuse to get discount candy the next day.

Course, some people would argue its all of the above.
