Because he used to be a sort of stable mostly well adjusted kid that, sure, was kind of messed up, but hey who isn't? He was still cool and fun and a good guy despite the whole "I yam Batfam" thing which has a lot of problems in and of itself. And somewhere underneath the grimdark and bad noir and dicky angsting he's still the same goofy, quirky, but really nice kid we all fell in love with AND WE CAN'T LET THAT GO.
