Then I will try to see if I can get some good pics, assuming there's something decent to look at.
I should dig up pics from the April Fool's Day storm we had in 2007 if you wanna see some snow! And in 2010-2011 winter, we kept getting small storms like twice a week for six weeks that kept piling up. I have a great picture of snow piled 3 feet above the top of our mailbox at the end of the driveway. We just dug it out so that the mailman could get the door open to put the mail in! And the snow was so tall around the driveway that the snowblower almost couldn't reach to throw the snow over the existing piles!
We have pics of my parents from that storm. They had to dig a tunnel out the front door to get out of the house and walk to the local corner store for supplies. Luckily, like your Dad, this store was OPEN!! Of course no one could drive but Mom said a bunch of people tunneled out and walked.
They lived on a cul-de-sac and the neighborhood kids built a 2-story snow fort palace that didn't completely melt until JUNE!!
Also, those giant parkas with the fur-rimmed hoods seemed to be all anyone wore at all back then ;-)
Yikes! I hope Winter Snow Nemo won't live up to its full potential! :( I've only experienced winter once, in Japan, and there wasn't even a lot of snow where I lived. I was pretty excited about it but then I couldn't stand the cold cold weather. Snow will always amaze a tropical girl like me, but give me 36°C any day.
In a way, I kind of hope it does live up to its potential... kind of exciting! It won't be as bad as the Blizzard of 78 in some ways no matter what. This is happening on a weekend instead of during rush hour traffic. In 78, people didn't know they were getting a monumental storm...they were expecting six inches but the storm stalled over us.

We have bushfires and floods, but no real Blizzards, so that's just amazing!
I love how in this picture, they kept saying it was the hottest day ever, but with the make-up, acting and fake snow you'd never know
