So we had this guy come in and read his work to us. He's a job applicant who wants to join UNO's Writers' Workshop so he can feed impressionable youths with bullshit on a daily basis. He read the most overadjectivized, metaphor-soaked, hypermasculine piece of shitty prose that's ever been written. I hated it. It just got more outlandish and ( Read more... )

Anything is edgy if you throw enough blood and cursing into it!

That sounds horrible. If you write a story about rednecks with added violence and it gets called edgy... What the fuck. It sounds like he's writing a backwoods version of Lord of the Flies where nobody gets left on an island but everyone goes stupid and insane anyway.

I will never leave that damn book alone, I swear.

That's okay. It can be your 1984 (I still enjoy complaining about that one, much to Chesh's/Smeg's/Dad's/everyone's annoyance).

It was pretty bad, although I think I'm the only person who thought so, as usual. I'm unofficially the Class Pessimist And General Party Shitter, but maybe if we READ actual BOOKS...

The story was far, far too violent to have any meaning to me. It was ridiculous.
