The New Pornographers released their fourth album, Challengers in 2007, on the same day that Rilo Kiley released their fourth, the semi-unfairly semi-maligned Under the Blacklight. I think "Heaven is Whenever" is shaped like a bell curve, with the peak at "Hurricane J"/"Barely Breathing." (Though, to make it perfect, I'd move "The Weekenders" closer to the center.) It's best in the middle, just good at the ends.
