Tonight I quit my griping about prices and went to see Neko Case at McCarren Pool. I hope they keep doing shows there -- it's (way, way) closer than the Cyclones ballpark on Coney Island and it seems unlikely to function as a public pool again anytime soon. In fact, the movie that (so far) best reflected any kind of teenage reality this year has been Rian Johnson's Brick -- a stylized California noir where everyone speaks in slang. The setup is artifice, but the feelings of confusion, frustration, and betrayal are, like, totally real.

This made me *lol* at work.

. . . that I'm buying Brick next week after classes. I nearly bought it this week, but I was going to a show, and my wife said I couldn't carry it all.

Also, I like those shoes. I might buy me a pair--just like you bought my glasses. It doesn't matter now that I don't work at the same place as you.

I want to be known as the b-school student with the red shoes.

Nice. I also thought about buying it but haven't yet. I might wait until it's used at Hollywood Video.

Hey, you could probably lay more claim to the shoes, "campus" insignia and all, since you're about to become a full-time student and I'm just PT.
