After the St. Mungo's/Daily Prophet event, Zacharias imagined a good chunk of folks were nursing hangovers and avoiding social interaction. Amateurs. The only reason to bother calling it an early night was schedule related, a hangover was never an excuse. Also, he was just insanely bored. Shoots were momentarily on hold, though they were due to ( Read more... )

She didn't know what brought her to this particular bar, actually. She'd needed to escape the castle this weekend, needed to escape a lot of things she realized. So, the farther she got from the Scottish Highlands, the better. She never was one to drink alone in a bar, not necessarily needing the bar to get a good drunk on- but with the way she had been feeling lately, there was something incredibly depressing with downing a bottle of wine by oneself in their bedroom.

So, here she was, kindly letting down a rather annoying stranger when he tried to compliment her choice of outfit, nursing a Captain and Coke when Zacharias made his way toward her.

She hadn't seen him since the night of the reception and Marlow was a little startled to see him, if not a little embarrassed, what with this being her fourth Captain and Coke of the night.

"Teachers have social lives- sometimes-" she said, taking another sip from her glass.

"I don't doubt it for a minute," Zacharias nodded. "At least with you. Please don't tell me about McGonagall's social life, I need her to not have one."

He leaned against the bar, resting most of his weight on his hip as he looked at her. Something seemed off, but he wasn't exactly an expert so he was waiting that out.

"It's good to see you."

"I'm sure it is-"

She turned to face him, her elbow resting on the counter of the bar as she raised her eyebrows. She felt so tired, this day feeling so long and difficult. And now, she was here, drunker than usual and feeling insane amounts of cranky.

It was probably a bad idea to be in public.

"What brings you here?" she asked him. "Prowling around for some unsuspecting young women?"

"I don't prowl." Zacharias countered, tone far less teasing and flirty. He might not interpret moods perfectly, but he also wasn't a complete moron.

"I'm mostly hanging out because home is boring and I don't have anywhere to be for at least a week." Catching his foot on the nearest stool, he tugged it closer to sit on it. "What brings you out? You don't look like you're in the mood."
