Poor Sam, he's teething AND reeling from his shots. He's all dazed and cranky and has a slight fever. But at least he's sleeping a lot. ;) By the way, officially at 4 1/2 months he is 15 lbs 2 oz and 25 in long. He's PRACTICING sitting but is by no means an expert at it yet, and I swear he blew me a kiss today, and that's his update ( Read more... )

Apparently my grandfather's family came from Washington, PA. My mom still thinks of it as some sort of hometown despite never having lived there herself. The story goes that someone pissed off someone else with mafia ties and someone's house burned down and that's how my grandfather's family wound up moving to Niagara Falls. I really wish I knew more detail than that, but perhaps it's better that I don't.

I never actually learned to ride a bike. I barely rode the one I had with training wheels so just never got the urge. I pretty much got by on walking (small place I grew up in) or riding double.

There's possibly some distant ancestry of mine based in Washington too, which my dad and future MIL spent a long while discussing when they first met. Apparently if my hubby and I are related it's distant enough that it means nil, so, uh, that's good I suppose. Apparently the town I live in NOW was where one of my most interesting great-to-the-nth-power grandfathers lived before the Civil War-- my dad had done a lot of indepth research on him and his company in the Union --or the PA National Guard, or something, I'm fuzzy on the details-- and there's actually a self-published local history book WRITTEN by my dad here in the Canonsburg Public Library-- I knew none of this before moving here.
