The illusion of choice

Because I still have some hairs left and I like heavy metal, I've decided to become a hairy heavy-metal-type person. However, the problem with long hairs is they keep going right in your pus; I have therefore deemed it expedient in the past to wear a baseball cap into which I can shove it. I used to have two similar baseball caps: a plain black one and one that I got at the Nefilim gig in 1996, both with snap-back fasteners; however, they've both vanished into the mysterious depths of the universe, and I want a new one. I've been looking on Amazon.com and there are literally bings of different ones in every colour and with every stupid logo or motif that you're never likely to want, but do you think I can find a simple, plain, bog-standard, common-or-garden black one with a snap-back adjuster? In fact, I eventually did and I've ordered two, though they're not quite what I wanted. A bit too rap-culture-looking. But perhaps I'll just have to stop being such a pernickety perfectionist and learn to accept that all this fabulous consumer choice with which the wonders of capitalism present us is actually a big fat pile of bollocks, and the likelihood of getting the thing that you actually want is less than zero!

Seen on Facebook today. I read this as "Guddling, I like that shit". In which case, it would have been true!
