wow, there seem to be really lots references to PotC!! and the fact that Avery's son ends up "neither dead nor alive" with a tube in his neck, that reminds about Orlando Bloom becoming a captain of the Flying Dutchman without his heart.
and funny sailor's slang that Avery speaks to Doctor, Amy, and Rory when the storm begins. plus, mutiny, siren, wearin triangle hat, losing one's life because of obsession about treasure - these might be common to all "pirate" genre films, but I associate it first with PotC :)

Ooh, yay, thank you for these! I like that there are more links between Avery's son and Will Turner - well spotted!

And yes, the treasure obsession! I guess you could add to that that the crown Avery keeps is quite like the one Jack is wearing at the end of POTC1 :)

The music in the "space pirates" scene sounded like an explicit homage to PotC to me.
