Day 2: Favourite guest star?

Ooh, well... I like Tim McInerny as Mace, and I like Ben Daniels as an OTT Russian captalist in a season 4 episode, and I love John Castle (my Mum met him once!) as Ros's Dad in season 5, and... well, there are lots. I think maybe my favourite is the lad who plays the lad who becomes Lucas's sidekick for a while in ( Read more... )

And my wishes for future guest stars would be Denis Lawson, John Simm and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The last of those has been in it, but it's a long time since I saw S2 (e.g. when it was on), so I can't say how much he's in it. Interestingly enough, his surname was North...

Denis Lawson needs to be in it! I hadn't considered that before, but he'd be so right. (This is another reason you need to see Jekyll, btw.)

Oh yes, now I remember reading about BC being in Spooks and thinking how unlucky it is that I have seasons 3-8 (well, I don't have my 8 box set yet, but soon) and he was in 2. Was it a small part? I think he could be in it as another character anyway, he's a good enough actor for that :)

Denis Lawson was in Jekyll? Oh my, I really really should catch up with it then!

He's only in one episode, and I don't know how much. It's on my to-download-and-watch list. RA was in it before he was Lucas, so there's a precident for people returning in other guises and he's definitely pretty enough to meet Kudos's standards for menfolk.

Yes, in every episode. It's a great role, amongst all the other great roles. Have I mentioned there is nothing I do not love about that show?

OMG, was he?! I had no idea! How did I not know this? I guess that must be in either s1 or s2 then. !!!

I just realised I copied the day 3 question for today instead of the day 2 question. *facepalm* I'll just have to swap them!

Your Mum met John Castle? wow! I love it that he has two excellent roles in Pros (under used, of course) but I first encountered him as middle son Geoffrey in "The Lion in Winter", which largely inspired my PhD thesis.

And Iain Glen - funny that, I've been thniking of buying the DVD of "The Fear" to see if it impresses me as much now as it did then.

Meanwhile the OH (lord and master of the TV remote) has just discovered Spooks. With you and him reccing it, I'll give in eventually...

Yes, she saw him in a production of Hamlet, I think when she was doing her A levels, and then he gave her class a little talk about the play afterwards :D (This puts me in a good position for the six degrees of separation from Pros of course!)

Spooks is a strange show when you first encounter it, especially if you're already a Pros fan. At first, I couldn't stop complaining about how Harry (the boss, see icon) just doesn't seem a strong enough character - because I was so used to Cowley! The camerawork and delivery can be a bit uneven too. But I think you settle into it, especially if there are characters you're especially fond of. This series is looking good, but for me the golden age is seasons 5-7 (characters like Malcolm, Zaf, Connie, Ros and Adam - all of whom have now left - make those series very strong).
