Sorry to the Pros fans, but this isn't about LC :( But I have to admit that every time I hear that Lewis is coming on, the Morse spin-off isn't my first thought

Wish I'd watched it now, the fantasy bit sounds interesting. Bosscat had it on TV while I was just doing something trivial like the Last Ever Proswatch

And wow, I remember that episode with Patricia Hodge - I mustn't have seen that for years. Long before I knew she was Ann Holly! The head of Girton is the Mistress, but apart from that I don't know of the title having been used in recent years at all - I was surprised when I had to direct my JRF application to 'the Mistress' :) But more to the point, yes, sometimes even Morse was rather anachronistic (in the services of being quintessentially English) in certain aspects.
I did love Morse as a character though. Indeed, I was always a little bit in love with Morse, though I'm not sure whether that was the John Thaw effect or not!
P.S. Is it James Hathaway? I could be making that up though, so don't quote me!
Ooh, I stand corrected about Girton. I know, what I was thinking of was the selection process for a new master at our college, and much head-scratching about what title to use if a female was appointed (so maybe the title should just be changed to 'principal' henceforth). Ha, no chance of that occurring, so the issue was shelved for another decade or so.
I've probably told you this before, so ignore me, but when I was still at school I used to want to *be* Patricia Hodge as Phyllida in Rumpole of the Bailey. What a role model.
Imagine my horror, on rediscovering Pros, to find she was the same minx who broke poor Doyle's heart.
Have a good weekend after your burst of writing, and the new Robin Hood to look forward to (grits teeth, thinks: the only TV Robin Hood worthy of the name is Robin of Sherwood).
