The "spoilers" thing is just your generic Time Travel "don't tell anyone what happens in their own future" thing surely? It's something Dr Who hasn't really mentioned before, but a lot of other Time Travel stuff has the idea that you shouldn't tell people their own futures ( ... )

I loved the thing where River is policing that about her own interaction with the doctor, how she seems to really 'get' the way that any interaction with a Time Traveller is likely to happen in a really muddled up order.

Actually, yes, I'm with you there. It's nice to see a time traveller relationship dealt with in a more sort of... responsible way. And it seems plausible that the Doctor would have made up rules about it.

The stuff about spoilers could just be no more than a joke shared with fans.

I think the little girl is actually the library's catalog computer, retreated into insanity of a sort after being left alone for a hundred years (and having turned a few thousand people into disembodied faces in order to save them...); Mr Moon is another element of it, or perhaps literally another (moon-based...) computer, trying to bring her back to sanity.

I was hoping the objectionable boss would be the first to go. Didn't the objectionable guy survive in the xmas episode too? Perhaps we're being sent some heavy-handed message about the universe being indifferent to our notions of good and bad l-)

Hm. As you see, I liked it. In fact, the thing you did like, the ghosting, I probably liked least: it was definitely a moving idea, but felt a bit like they'd made it up just for that. But I don't think we disagree on any matters of fact, just liked different things.

I actually went to watch most of it again. It wasn't as engaging the second time, I didn't see the end. I enjoyed it, but decided it wasn't as iconic as some of the great episodes (empty child?). Still I think I maybe like it most of the current season.

I know what you mean about the shadows. They didn't actually scare me, and they _sound_ stupid, and it's not clear what's an official shadow and what's just dark. But I liked them a lot. The scary shadows somehow _looked_ like special shadows, particularly stark, but the idea of avoiding all shadows -- and the characters themselves not being sure what's ok and what's not -- was creepy.
