Arpanet existed but didn't use the same protocols as the Internet. The specs for TCP/IP are dated 1981 though presumably the work behind them stretched back into the 1970s.

Does that mean someone using the term 'internet' (also 'broadband'!) does come off as anachronistic in the 1970s then? It'd be a shame for the story to have a plot-related mistake in there...

Or I suppose I could change it to 'Google' :)
