'morality' is related to the Latin 'mores', denoting customs
Well that would make sense because moralities are largely customary.

If we take the rights and wrong of a society to be those practices deemed acceptable or not acceptable by that society, then I would expect there to be a degree of correlation between the majority of the practices deemed unacceptable even in societies that developed independently.

I'd expect this because societies whose view of acceptable and unacceptable do not correlate with survival positive and survival negative for the society, are less likely to survive.
