I think they can make it work. Originally I had a happy ending for everyone in this fic, but it didn't seem to go well with the rest of the story, so I changed it. I do have a happy ending in the works...sorta...

Nicely blended universe! I especially liked the part where Bruce hit on Mercy. *L* You chose a really good parallel between Rogue & Gambit's relationship vs. Catwoman & Batman-- they both can't be together but while one couple has a physical barrier, the other has more of a psychological/personality barrier.
