I've never heard that ponytails were professional...that's news to me.

I think most people say ponytails are more pro simply because they stay out of the way. If down hair doesn't bother you I say down is just as good, if not better.

My secrets are being depressed for years and not eating well, and therefore malnourishing my body into thin-ness. I don't recommend it, love.

Yay big curly hair! I say wear it however will be most comfortable for the concert.
