Lost faith in humanity...

GARRRR... ok so i saw on yahoo that Clay Aiken came out officially and I STUPIDLY went and decided to look at the comments that ppl left... and although there were quite a few supporters... I still felt horribly disgusted at all the people who were using religion as a basis for attacks... Like its not even about the issue of gay or straight being ( Read more... )

I see religion as the problem here. Religion means they don't have to question their opinions. As long as people feel they are on a team with others that agree, it shuts down their openness to views that aren't of the team. It happens in politics; it even happens in the workplace, if you've ever known someone who joins management and thereafter adopts the establishment outlook on everything.

Jonathan Haidt spoke about moral diversity at a recent conference, you might enjoy it.

Hehehe, this post is a freakin' riot! Not because of the subject matter because simply pisses me off (Note: I agree with you and the "ignorant masses" are a thing that has disgusted me for pretty much all of my life) but because lines like that T-Mobile one. ^_^

Mike is pretty much right about what he mentions below. Religion, for many, is a paint-by-numbers existence that eventually results in their "salvation" should they follow all instructions and complete the picture. But it's not like that for everyone. Sometimes, I wish that it were so that I could say: "Avoid religious believers like the plague!" but I can't say that. Just as nutballs like the ones you mentioned like to lump all of one class/affinity/sex preference to a miserable lump, it is better for people like us to not do the same thing.

Yeh I hate how such bad things can be taken from stuff that could potentially be such a positive thing...

Oh, and also: Aside from religious folk, the other forms of "gay basher" really don't amount to much to me. Why you'd put forth so much energy to hate something/someone that has nothing to do with your existence is beyond me...

First of all, to anyone who says "God told me..." or maybe even "The devil made me...", I say this. No one made you do anything but yourself, if you're hearing voices, see a doctor.

People who blindly follow anything without question are regressive drones. There is so much repugnant irony in Christians who hate, who think they have the right to judge other people, and feel above them.

Anyway, Clay Aiken is gay? I'm not really surprised. Well, I'm glad he can finally admit it.

Whenever I got involved with another girl, I think I didn't tell my parents on purpose because they just thought we were playing video games with the door closed. I am going totally off-topic...

LOL you reminded me of when my mom was "showing me off" to her friends the other day (stop me if ive told you this already)

Ladies: Oh your son is so guapo! Does he have a girlfriend?
MoM: Oh my son doesn't like girls...
Me: (well not exactly 100% true but Go Mom!)
MoM:... he likes video games and comic books!
Me (FAIL! -_-)

I didn't have a girlfriend until I was 20 years old, at which point it became a big deal when I did.

My grandmother's reaction to the news was "I guess now we know he's not gay after all!"

Thanks Grandma.

I didn't have a girlfriend until I was like 15! Does that mean I win?

I'm not saying I'm holier than gay people or anything like that. I do plenty of stuff that pisses God off, like missing church and using His name in vain.

...and smoking weed.

;p Actually, I don't know the last time you did that... I don't totally agree on the "displeasing" God bit, but it was interesting/change of pace hearing from you on this subject because you are one of few "conservative" people I am friends with.
