What amazes me, consistently, and I'm not sure why, is how selfish Americans are. Hundreds of thousands of people in Louisiana and Mississippi are dead or homeless, and then you've got people freaking the fuck out over paying more for gas. Perspective, people.
Also, HOLY FUCKING SHIT PEOPLE GAS IS NOT A RENEWABLE RESOURCE. You'd think things like this would encourage people to conserve, check out different energy sources, look for ways to reduce our dependency on oil...but no.
FYI: there is no such thing as a "renewable energy resource"
the closest thing is a hydrogen powered car or a "fuel cell" car. hydrogen (which only can be achieved in it's purest, most efficient form by burning fossil fuels anyway) sucks in oxygen and converts it to water, producing energy that is stored in a large battery and then used to power an electric engine. inneficient, limited supply and foolish.
solar power kind of works, but sun glares, sun spots and the occasional slow burn or hot burn creates inconsistencies in the sun's actual energy output...and again...not a completely renewable resource because the sun can burn out. but when that happens the galaxy will slip into a black hole and we will all die.

Oh, I know. But given the options, there are tons of resources that are more efficient. Except no one wants to look into them, because they're not OMGPROFITABLE.

I mean, you can't sell the sun.
