I didn't want to say anything about this before, but I guess I'll mention it now.

I have recently endured a phase 3 interview (of a three-phase process) for a job at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. This job, if I were offered it and chose to accept it (I would) would have me working from home.

Working from home!!!

So yes, while it still is a call-centre ( Read more... )

I really don't like the Flaming Lips, but I totally understand why you would. I've been getting into a lot of well-produced metal and noise lately, because it's an amazing experience to hear stuff that doesn't sound familiar or normal and yet sounds perfectly, exactly right. (the two I am thinking of are actually both Japanese; Sigh (the metal band, CHECK OUT 'IMAGINARY SONICSCAPES' OH MY GOD it goes from black metal to disco to dub back to black metal and then it goes off on a REAL tangent) and Merzbow (the noise artist, whose '1930' is as great as I can imagine noise "music" being))

Well, I'm not blown away by the Lips' style, more so the recording of what they've done, as well as the mixing and mastering. Sometimes, even music that you wouldn't totally be into sounds so good, you just have to stop and listen.

Oh very much so. We've been feeling so 'stuck' lately, and it finally looks like there's some sort of light at the end of the tunnel, even if it's not quite as bright as we originally hoped (almost had a government job a while back).

Good luck, I hope you get it.

I admit that regarding the Flaming Lips, I've only ever heard "She Don't Use Jelly" and MGMT's album (which was produced by him as well). I shall check it out.

I also agree that there is nothing quite like a well-produced album. Even if I don't like a band or its songwriting, I can listen with joy to a perfectly-crafted detail-oriented album. I guess I like knowing that someone loved it enough to put that much time and care into making it perfect.
