The dance of war is a prelude to madness.
The burning desert sun beats down on his back, the sand stings at his eyes, his veins are thumping, the sound of blood rushing in his ears, his heart keeping the rhythm like a drum.
The war cries of his enemies and comrades mix together with the sound of clashing swords like some kind of beautiful deadly music.
With a slash of his sword a wave of his enemy’s blood is flung into the air like a gruesome crimson ribbon and the body is falling, spinning then descending like an elegant dancer on an invisible stage.
The scorching hot desert sand welcomely embracing another victim into its depths.
The memory and madness must have shown in his eyes, because for the first time since he captured the man, Gisborne looks afraid.
