And best seasonal wishes for a very happy and peaceful time to you all, too. Hope Peter's cold is better soon (Vitamin D tablets recommended at this time of year).

As to lj, well, it obviously just loves you and wants you to spend more time with it...:).

Having a short rest after peeling a mound of Brussels sprouts - we love them (really) - so that's my excuse for sitting here writing a comment. Thank you for the pumpkin recipe, I shall try that soon.

Now, where's the bottle of fizzy...?

Yes! What would Christmas be without peeling Brussel sprouts with a glass of champagne at your elbow?! (I hope you put chestnuts on yours.) The rest of the year you just have to peel the beggars unsheltered from the reality!!! And I even truly like sprouts! Yes! I MISS them when they're out of season and there are shouts of joy when they first turn up in the shops again! I am WEIRD! I know! I pretty much like ALL the brassicas! I eat so many of them I don't actually understand why I *can't* leap tall buildings at a single bound (like hellhounds I could name) since they're supposed to be so GOOD for you.

I'm always puzzled about the common reaction to sprouts - although possibly they're best after the first frost? To my mind sprouts are so delicious and nutty-flavoured then (even without chestnuts). And Bubble-and-Squeak today, mmmm!

As you like brassicas, have you ever tried Madhur Jaffrey's recipe for Gujerati-style cabbage with carrots? That is wonderful, I could eat it by the plateful.

The fizzy here was lovely (and I poured a small libation over the greenhouse), hope yours was too. :)

*************** OH GOOD. ANOTHER NUTTER. :) I entirely agree in every particular.

************** No. Which book? I'm afraid I've never got very far out of basic American/UK stodge. I don't even do *France*. (Well. A little of the peasant stuff. And peasant Italy.) At the same time I'm the woman who goes and has a hit off her ground coriander bottle when she's feeling low so obviously . . .

**************** Yep. The cheap end of Heidseck. :)

Happy Christmas to you and yours! (Sammy sends wags.)

Do you update using the html window or the rich text window, btw?

********* I hope he's not bleeding on or throwing up on or otherwise destroying any valuable property for a day or two. Just for a rest over the holidays.

*********** Yes. My mistake I fear. I should KNOW by now to ALWAYS write in Word and cut and paste AFTER. Occasionally if I'm just going to write a line or two (which is why I FORGET because it's SO occasional) I compose in lj. BIIIIIIIIG mistake.

You may hate lj, but we love you and Peter and the amazing hellhouds. Have the best holiday ever.
