Had to read this fast as I am heading off to work.

There was plenty of heavy breathing going on as they trudged up the hillside…but not the kind any of them found pleasure in.

Giggles at the euphamism, Much and I have taught you well!;)

And the ending, oh the ending, melted my heart!

Lovely read for Friday afternoon, although I must say I had my doubts about Carter's reaction to being 'had' by his brother's wife...

But otherwise I enjoyed it very much.

Glad you enjoyed the story! I know Carter's background is a stretch given the character we come to know (and love!) in 2x08 but I figured a young teenager could easily be intimidated and forced into submission. It's typical (or stereotypical?) of sexual abuse - the victim allows it to continue and says nothing for any number of reasons.

So how could Carter turn out to be the self-assured, strong knight of 2x08? Many folks rise above the adversity they've faced, so I'll have to put him in that category!

darkentwisted & I have been filling in more of Carter's history as part of our RoundRobin fic Denial. Denial is a different take on the Carter/Much story (and on other familiar storylines post 2x08) but my co-writer wanted to maintain the background I established, so in upcoming chapter 38, Kalilah: No Past, which should be posted this weekend, Carter tells Much about the abuse.
