Because of a page-turning mishap (just like Rachel on Friends!), I read the first step of the wrong recipe, and coated the beef chunks in flour. This resulted in gravy rather than broth.
I did not cook it in a crock pot. I think even God could not make an above-par pot roast without a slow cooker.
