Campbell Conference - Saturday

I had cancelled my plans to attend the Campbell Conference due to health and fatigue.  However, Chris McKitterick kindly mentioned that the bookstore had ordered a bunch of my books in preparation for today's booksigning.  Like, okay, dangle some bait.  So at eight o'clock this morning, I hauled my backside over to Lawrence.

You may be right. So the novel award was shared, and the short fiction awards was the single? Hmmm. I'll see what I can find. As I said, I hadn't planned to go up, so I didn't pay sufficient attention to the awards.

And Tina is right. The Campbell Award for Best Novel was shared by Cory Doctorow for LITTLE BROTHER and Ian MacLeod for SONG OF TIME. James Alan Gardner won the Sturgeon Award for Best Short Fiction for "The Ray Gun: A Love Story."

I'm glad you were able to make it and it was nice seeing you. At lunch, I did, ahem, manage to stick with a salad and lentil burger. (But man, they fried the burger in some major fat giving it a quarter-inch crust all around it. Tasted great, but kind of heavy.)

Heh. The moment we walked into the place I figured healthy eating was out of the question and declared it a free day. Well, not the entire day. I grilled zucchini and ears of corn for dinner. Now I'm baking chicken to tide me over for the next couple of (busy) days.
