A conversation I had with my dad today.

My dad enters the living room as Prince's Purple Rain (the song, not the film) is playing on the telly.

Dad - This isn't a song.
Me - Yes it is.
Dad - This is Jimmy Hendrix.
Me - No, it's Prince.
Dad - But Jimmy Hendrix wrote it.
Me - No, Prince wrote it.
Dad - So, did Jimmy Hendrix cover it?

Other notable Purple songs would have to include Gogol Bordello "Start Wearing Purple", less notable being D12 "Purple Pills"
It's got the stage where it looks like a very funny word now. :/

There's also 'The Purple bottle' by the Animal Collective. And of course the band, Deep Purple. Was actually going to do a post about trying to find a name for my band: maybe I could call us My Purple World? (it was the first thing that came up when I googled "Purple songs".)
