As it happens, George is responsible for my discovering your writing. I was at a Con where GRRM was guest of honor in 2002. I, like the legions of other fans there to meet with him, was anxiously waiting for the next chapter in ASoIaF.

I happened to have a quiet moment with him in between panels and I asked him if he had any suggestions for other writers I could read. Assassin's Apprentice was his recommendation. I went out and bought it the day after the Con and have been a fan of your writing ever since.

I had just finished the last (at the time) published Wheel of Time book, and was lamenting to the owner if the small, sci fi and fantasy driven book store I loved, when the owner pointed out Game of Thrones to me and said, this just came in, and he is supposed to be like Robert Jordan, so I bought it, little knowing that I was lost in these books. Little since has approached the richness of these beloved novels, with the exception of Robin Hobb.
