Of course you know about the Museum of Jurassic Technology and its extensive display on zombie fungus-victim ants, right? I think Wilson, the Museum's creator, even refers to his urge to maintain the Museum as "inhaling the spore" - a handy metaphor for memetic warfare avant l'heure.
If you're not familiar, I recommend the whole thing for high-octane weirdness. The "cone of obliscience" exhibit alone is worth the price of admission.

The great film director Werner Herzog is much jollier these days. He did a voice on the Simpsons a couple of weeks back!
