If you don’t mind dialing the timeline a bit, obituaries would make a fine source of news-drawn characters.

Well, clearly they all faked their deaths to join an underground society of defenders against global threats. So no retconning necessary.

I'm not sure, since I'm not familiar with the HQ2 rules (I know, I should go buy your book!) and I don't know how it does disadvantages. "Source of mystical power: long grey hair 15"?

Perhaps an HQ2 fan will jump in with a quick precis of the flaw rules, but that's close enough for jazz.

Although I'd argue that, like most proposed flaws, this is actually an ability that can sometimes work for you and sometimes cut against you.

The 100-word method is my favourite - and it let me run an RPG contest at an SF convention, many years ago, that was judged by Terry Pratchett, though it isn't mentioned in the article I later wrote on the subject:
