So I have now completed my first-ever visit to New York City. Yes, you're all allowed to express shock that I had never been to NYC before...everyone else has made comments. The play was rather entertaining. I had been telling Peter about Mamet's affinity for aggressively rude language and an abundance of the word f**k in his earlier plays a few minutes before the show. Within the first few minutes the word was used about a dozen times...heck, it was almost like watching Deadwood.

But the play was good, funny, insightful in a backhanded way, and we felt we had gotten our money's worth.

You know, I've never been to NYC either, not in all the 20 years I've been out here on the right coast. Must renew my passport...

Well, I've been a player with this group for a while, but when 4E came out people wanted to switch, so I offered to try running it so our usual DM would get a chance to play. I figured I'd know the system at least as well as everyone else, so that worry was gone...

We rather like it so far, though we're clearly still getting used to the new rules as we've averaged one encounter a session because they've taken so long.

I still have to try it myself. I hear it adds a lot of tactical options to play, which would explain why each encounter is taking so long. It sounds interesting; hopefully I'll have a chance to try it out at the local gaming convention if not before...
