Sep 08, 2008 14:36

Lauren's side of the Great Australian Art Trade just arrived today, while I was sleeping. I am so happy! They're all spread out now between the other chair and my table. I got too excited and unpacked it all at once. Now I have to sit down or my back will go on strike ( Read more... )

Oh, thank goodness everything arrived safely! I didn't realise that Toby had left cat hairs of inspiration in the box. He is a cheeky boy.

I'm so glad that you're so happy with this!

Scritch him for me! He is an inspiring cheeky boy and left some messages for Ari in the packing material. Ari was sniffing over all of it so much and then got distracted by playing with the wrappers and chewing on the hard packaging of the palette knife set!

I am having loads of fun with all of it and so inspired! So many different mediums I'm not sure what to do first! But you'll start seeing it all posted here! Anything with butterflies of course goes in your package... ooooh... yeah... tinted paper, new pastels, butterflies larger than ACEOs... oooh...

how fun! I love Mail call. faunhaert September 9 2008, 12:34:54 UTC
oooooooooooooo Jule of the highest art magnitude!

sooo many colors so little time!

you'll have to takeand after picture or your pencils & pastels
for the studio magazines of cloth papaer scissors.
so folks can drool over the sweet pallet.

and how wonderful to have a pallet of gourds
the easiest way to clean them out
is to put a hole(either discreetly on the top or bottom)
where you'll cut it off or right gabstack
where you want a bird to be seen going in and out.
then hang it up with or without(net) holes .
Then let the birds at it-
eat everything inside and they'll clean em out with glee-
and you won 't have to breath any of the mould in side.

I'm glad you have such great roomies.
I thank them for being your family.

I'm looking forward to having my house set up
and my art stuff out of storage so i can start painting again.
I'll probably paint the walls so it looks like they're wall papered
first though
i have tons of mush rooms to picture.
i've these great ancient watercolours jan gave me
that make the coolest crackles.

So glad you enjoyed that! Yeah, I'm tempted to snap photos with everything open, but the entire haul has already been photo'ed well by Lauren and posted in a comment to a not-long-ago entry. Otherwise I'd have snapped a photo before even opening any of it. She had a little gray cat named Toby playing with it and jumping in and out of the box before sealing it too, he's very cute. I thoroughly recommend those photos, Toby is adorable ( ... )

the gourds dry by rotting from the inside out.
in side it is filled with dried mould with the seeds.
its awful and folks wear gas masks to clean them out
to keep from breathing the stuff..
the lung rot it causes is awful-
so even drilling needs to be out side with a mask.

luckliy birds are immune to it
and will clean them up all on thier own.

Oh, so I need to be extra careful if I drill and open any of them. But while it's sealed it's sealed and not going to cause symptoms. It hasn't caused any symptoms so far but I haven't drilled any of them. Thank you so much for the warning!

The big one would make a wonderful bird house but I'll need to get a mask and some help to open it, thanks to your timely warning. I actually have a mold allergy so it would be a very bad thing.

Hey! Do you do trades? If so, I want to get my bum into gear and make some ATC' so that I can trade with you(if you would want, that is).

Yes, I do trades! I love to trade ATCs. I even do trades by arrangement. I would like to finish up my commissions before I take on another one, including the Cheetahs Fire Dancing, the Big Australian Art Supply Swap and the pink lilac ACEO for Peachfuzz -- that's what's on my agenda right now. Watch my journal for progress on these projects? If I make too many commitments I wind up getting too stressed to work on any of them, but I do enjoy trading ATCs very much. Especially when sales are low and I can't afford to buy ACEOs it brings art into my home and my album. I have this incredibly cool little mini-museum that just overflowed the first album and started into the first few pages of the second!

And occasionally what I do for an ATC winds up being tons better than anything I've ever done before and turns out to become one of my most popular prints. Like that itty bitty baby newborn calico, that was an ATC.

Excellent! You know what I'll do? I'll start making stuff now. If and/or whenever you are ready, you let me know if you want to trade, ok? ^_^

Thank you! I'm looking forward to it too -- watch for a pastel painting of cheetahs, or a pair of pieces involving a cat in a garden and a wombat in the same garden, and the Pink Lilacs. When those are done I'll be so ready to trade!
