Well, I'm registered for the piping conference in Atlanta on Feb 24-26. It should be fun.

Tonight, the pipe band played for the Saint Andrews Society of Montgomery's Burns Night dinner. It's their annual formal dinner at the Country Club. We got there at 6 and started warming up. Today was the Riverfront Arts & Food Festival, formerly known as Festival In The Park. This is the event that I got heat exhaustion last year and had to walk off stage halfway through our performance or pass out. No problem with that this year. It was nice and cool, but a tad overcast. I set the alarm for 8:30, but sat around for and hour and a half catching up on LJ. Made some egg mcmuffins, then took my shower and put on my piping kit. I was the first one at the rendezvous point. I just finished practicing my pipes al fresco. We are playing Saturday for the Sanford University Law School graduation. We march in playing, the graduates follow us, then file through us as we continue to play at the door to the auditorium. We repeat the same 2 tunes ad finitum until they finish marching in. I just finished practicing my pipes. I've gotten out of my slump. For at least 6 weeks I was in a funk about the pipes. My stamina was worse (I couldn't make it through a 90 minute practice with the band -- I had to switch back to practice chanter), my general health sucked, and I was pissed because I haven't progressed as quickly as my inner ( Read more... )

Today (Monday) and tomorrow I'm taking a class in SQL. I've been using SQL strings in Access for years, but I figured that with the way M$ is heading, I should get a firm grasp on the "language".
