G*d d*mned atrophy

For 36 years, I've put with up with it now. I must stop Christmas from coming. But how?Brain damage to the motor centers for my left side caused temporary paralysis and permanent atrophy on my left side. I'm left handed, so that helped retrain my left hand to work. Can the chanter be ergonomically re-configured? As long as the hole is the same distance from the reed, does it matter if they are all aligned?

That was my first thought when I started my initial bagpipe class. "Why aren't the holes offset?"

However, it seems to be a commonality among celtic wind instruments (bagpipe, penny-whistle, flute) to play them flat-fingered. Hopefully it will just be a matter of retraining muscle patterns.
