Brush up your Shakespeare

Friday night I saw The Taming of the Shrew at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. With Dennis on the way, I didn't want to risk taking in the closing show on Saturday.

This was actually the first time I've seen Shakespeare's original. I've seen Kiss Me, Kate a few times, but never Taming. So I wasn't clear on some of the plot elements going into the ( Read more... )

You might want to check out 10 Things I Hate About You as well.
It's Taming...set in modern-day California........featuring a young Heath Ledger in his first major role. It's a lot of fun, me thinks.

Also, try Scotland, PA -- Macbeth set in the mid-70s, around a fastfood restaurant. Christopher Walken, even!
...and Andy Dick!

And I stilll think Jawbreaker is a modernization of a Billy Shakespeare play, but I can never tell.

I just went to the Website. I love the Winter's Tale poster. Perdita playing her flute and the bear suggested in the background. That's going up along side a Patsy review. What fun!!!

For a minute, all I could think of was Patsy from AbFab. Then I realized you were referring to Always, Patsy Cline. I think this is the 2nd REVIVAL of this show. It's evidently a hit.
