Obsession...

Okay, so I have this kind of unhealthy obsession with certain types of boardgames. I really like the kind of game that brings friends together and creates a story. I'm talking about the sort of pseudo-roleplaying games like Fury of Dracula or Arkham Horror or even that funky co-op Lord of the Rings game ( Read more... )

I had a couple of ideas for games that maybe I should go back to and work on with my son.

One was a sort of Car Wars/Mad Max game where you would go on runs for loot and upgrades.

The other was a sort of fantasy RPG/chess game that you played on a board that was sort of like a chinese checker board for up to 6 players. Cards and dice. Eh, we'll see...

Android is pretty neat; we played on Saturday and I'm looking forward to trying it again. If you're interested, I posted a review:

Color me jealous; I seem to have some sort of Android infection. It's worming its way through my thoughts quite a bit more than is convenient. I'm a bit hesitant about finding people to play with, unfortunately... while I can keep the team games like Arkham and Fury going with just a die-hard or two, the WoW adventure game kinda fell flat with my group, mostly (I think) due to the hand-management aspect. Or, at least, solo hand-management; you can get a second opinion as a Dracula-Hunter. I'm worried that may drag down my hopes for Android as well... :/

I've never tried to WoW game so I can't say how it compares to Android.

Have you tried A Touch of Evil yet? Great fun, and it comes with a cheesy pseudo-baroque soundtrack CD.

I've heard it was a lot like Arkham Horror Lite, which has me passing on it so far, since I've got 'em about 10 deep wanting to play AH these days, but I'll see if I can run into anyone at the game meetup this month with a copy

Having not tried Arkham Horror (it's on my short list), I cannot offer an opinion on the similarities.

I'd also like to try Last Night on Earth.
