Lying, staring around the edges of the sun that were attempting to peek out from behind the clouds, she was content.
Smiles played across their faces, a tender breeze of wind weaving through their hair and clothes, never harsh, always pleasant.
The rustle of the long, thick grass and the soft bubbling of the stream nearby were some of her favorite sounds in the world, other than the sound of his musical laughter that she could never get enough of.
They were lying on their backs in the middle of their own private sanctuary. She loved to brush her fingertips through the grass, not daring to pick a few flowers for fear it would disturb the natural perfection of the place. No need to ruin a good thing.
She liked the peacefulness of it; the way the meadow could soothe even a group of malcontents.
Everything was more enjoyable whenever he accompanied her. They could lie there for ages, until the sun inevitably set, until forever. No one could touch them here, they were impenetrable.
Her chin was nestled in the crook of his neck, a small bit of cheek touching cheek, hand resting on his cold, hard chest. But she never felt uncomfortable by the icy rigid-ness of his body. The emotional warmth always surpassed physical warmth. One day she’ll be like him.
His head turned slightly, he kissed her at the top of her forehead. Chills all throughout her body that had little to do with the temperature of his lips. A hand sneaked out around her waist, gently pulling her closer to him.
She was partial to this part the most, the silent declarations, knowing they don’t have to speak a single word in order to get across their feelings for one another. He knew how she felt, she knew how he felt.
There were things that couldn’t be measured by how many times three words were spoken.
