He didn't know whether or not to pack a bag of any kind, so he didn't. He does have a coat with him, though, in case space is cold...
Before knocking on the door to the Master's "room," he snorts. This is ridiculous. So ridiculous, so completely unexpected. He's about to go for a ride in a time machine in an multidimensional bar.
It's still totally unbelievable. He's still thinking that he might have a brain tumor he doesn't know about.
Brain tumor or no brain tumor, he knocks.

"Daniel! Haven't lost your nerve, I see. Good man."
He beckons him inside and speeds to the controls.
"Have you thought about our destination?"

His smile is a little nervous and unsure, but that's mostly excited energy. This is really going to happen, isn't it?

"Awfully surprising," the Master remarked over his shoulder as he set coordinates. "Nearly everyone's got a favorite time, or a place they've always wanted to go. I could take you a hundred years from now, to a human colony beyond your solar system. Or I could take you to meet your namesake. Then again, perhaps I'll just take you home with me..."
