My steel cables

On Monday, some of the guys from the QA group passed me while I was on my training ride. They're kinda my "office pals," in a way. One of them even spotted that I'm a Subgenius. He had an unfair advantage, since he used to work in the Berkeley radio station where Puzzling Evidence does his show ( Read more... )

Rock on! Folks who don't ride a lot don't always think about just how fast we really can go.

Can you post another link to your LifeCycle page? Payday is coming soon and I'd like to make a donation :)

Admittedly, 20 mph is a good non-sprinting speed for me, especially when I have a trunk pack on. My lunchtime training ride is a gentle uphill on the front half and a gentle downhill on the back half, so I'm doing 15-18 mph on the front side and 19-22 mph on the back side. Sadly, red lights pull my average speed down.

I have a permanent redirect to my LifeCycle page at http://www.weatherlight.com/tofightaids.html

Thank you so much for considering me for a donation. I know the economy is rough out there and there are plenty of great causes.

If he thinks those calves look good, he should check out your fine ass!

Just sayin'...

Perhaps he was just prioritizing, figuring that calves-compliments would work better as opening statements than ass-compliments?

The hilarity is that it took me a full day to realize that his remark could be construed as a come-on. Especially because he's a little cute in his own way.

you're like steel wrapped in leather baby.

i remember when i used to bike everywhere back in highschool. i used to surprise all the jocks when i would do the inclined leg press with about 800 lbs on it. now mind you i was a lot more skinny than the last time you saw me. now im barely at 400. also i probably cant cruise at 20mph anymore either

My parents made me play soccer when I was younger, so I've always had legs of death even when I was at my heaviest. Still, I know what you mean. It's fun to fuck with people where leg weights are concerned...I've done it myself a couple of times.

It's kinda funny to note that I know part of the reason I bike everywhere now is because my parents wouldn't let me when I was younger. We lived in a small town with very little traffic and less crime. I owned a bike, but I couldn't take it beyond my immediate neighborhood. I couldn't even take it to the park just a mile or two from my house because I'd have to ride on a "busy" road. So, I'm making up for the adventures I wasn't having when I was younger.

In fact, I didn't bike around my hometown until I was 28, and my parents begged me not to do it then, despite the fact that I was already riding long distances through the traffic of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.
