Date: Sunday, 15 September 1999 | evening Characters: Parvati Patil, others? Location: The Three Broomsticks Status: Public Summary: Parvati swings by the pub after working at the shop. Completion: Incomplete
Michael had decided to go home for the weekend after his friends took him to task again about his wardrobe. Maggie hadn't been there, but Mum took one look at his trainers and holey track pants and had just about frog-marched him into town for new clothes. She made the Trainers at the Ministry look like wimpy little first years. He'd felt almost lucky to escape her clutches on Sunday afternoon. Terry and Greg hadn't been about, so he decided to see who was about in town.
He wandered into the Three Broomsticks and checked out the special board. He ordered some soup and a pint and looked to see if anyone was about. Parvati was sitting at a table with a sketchbook spread in front of her.
"Oi! Parvati! Need a model?" He slid into the seat across from her without waiting for an invitation. "I've just spent the weekend with Mum, so I can do 'henpecked, beleagured son', if you'd like."
Parvati was startled by Michael Corner, but recovered with a smirk. "I suppose you might do. Fit Auror trainees always make for good subjects." She winked and closed her sketchbook, leaning on her elbows. Michael was always friendly, and Parvati was pleased to see him.
"Well, I guess I'd rather be fit as opposed to henpecked, given the choice." He smiled at her as she closed her book. He sipped at his pint.
"Your housemates and the rest of my so-called friends tend to be critical of my wardrobe. I thought maybe my sister would be around this weekend, but I got the full on Mum treatment. Complete with a trip to Mass this morning and a new rosary to go with my new trainers and tracksuits." He should have gone to Gladrags, Merlin knew there would be less henpecking.
Parvati scrunched her nose. Tracksuits? "That sounds vile, Michael, and not just from a fashion standpoint."
"I don't go home much in fear of being dragged to temple. Just not really worth getting up that early to be all dressed up for an hour." She shrugged and took a bite of her salad. It was only mediocre, and Parvati wondered if Wayne was working tonight. Rosemerta was a fine cook, but she'd apparently grown used to eating Wayne's fare while at the pub.
"I can relate to the henpecking, though. It's not only for sons. Why you wouldn't have just come into the shop in beyond me. I'm not that scary."
"I finish at the Ministry at about five every day. Earlier in the week is probably better, since I tend to get more tired as the week drags on." He sipped at his tea.
"D'you want dinner, or just ice cream?" Michael was always hungry, so he had to depend on Parvati to decide.
Parvati smiled. "Well, dinner is always good, but ice cream is fine, too. Since we both work at the Ministry we could just meet in the lobby to decide."
She sipped her tea. "Wednesday, then? Early but not like, tomorrow."

"Really? Any special reason for a trip home?"

"Wednesday works for me. I can meet you by the lifts?" At least if they went straight from work, he wouldn't be wearing a tracksuit.
