Susan was selling a few of her own things; old books that she no longer used and a beautiful set of robes that she no longer wore. It wasn't that she didn't want to use the money in the bank, but it seemed like black money -- cursed. It symbolised everything that was wrong with her life and her family -- the sale of her childhood. So instead she was selling a couple of things that she didn't need so that she could pay her bills and therefore keep the flat that she would most definitely need when her parents winged away; the flat that she had almost given up to move back to the home that she would soon not have.
She hesitated after selling the books, looking enviously at the ice cream parlour. She could do with some kind of love right now, and what was more lovely than ice cream? So she stepped out toward the shop and actually walked into Eloise. "Oh blast...I'm sorry. Hey!"
Eloise felt a bump from behind and spun around to see Susan. "Hey, stranger!" She pulled Susan into a quick hug- she really couldn't remember the last time she'd seen her. While they hadn't been close in school they'd spent more time together afterwards. It seemed to be a trend.
"I haven't seen you in ages. How's everything going? What are you up to, and where have you been hiding?" Eloise wondered if Susan and Cormac were still dating, but decided to just let that be. She'd bring it up if they were still together eventually.
Susan smiled. Somehow it felt good for someone to be pleased to see her, and a hug...it was like warmth quickly plunged through her and she suddenly remembered how good it was to see friends.
"Oh...stranger, huh? Um...let's space the questions out huh? Over ice cream...?" she blushed, "That is, unless you're busy or something. I don't want to keep you."
"Busy with getting ice cream with you, obviously." Eloise tucked her arm into the cook of Susan's elbow and pulled her towards the shop. It wasn't fair for her to pounce on a friendly face quite like this, but there was a real lack of other women in her life. Wayne, Ron and Anthony were probably her closest friends at the moment, and while they were great they weren't girls.
