Date: August 28th 1999 Characters: Kevin Entwhistle Location: 40 South Vinewood Status: Open-ish (open to housemates or friends that want to stop by) Summary: Kevin is cleaning.. in a good mood Completion: InComplete
Millie was sick. Not so sick she can't move, but sick enough to be sent home from work, as they didn't want her infecting anyone else. And in addition to being sick, she was bored. She'd slept as long as she dared to disrupt her schedule, gone over notes for the exam next week, even reorganized her room, something she didn't need to do as she kept her room pretty well immaculate. She had been staring at the trunk in the corner, halfway to psyching herself up to open it and find out the truth to her mother, when she heard the music downstairs, and the occasional sound of someone singing.
She ventured down, wondering if she might be able to beg them to spare her ears, and was startled by the sight of Kevin. Quiet, unassuming Kevin. Dancing around the kitchen. She stared.
"What in the bloody hell has gotten into you?: She blurted.
Kevin yelled and thankfully he wasn't holding anything hot or breakable, because she had really scared him to death. He turned the music off with a wave of his wand and, brought his hands to his chest, biting his lower lip with his eyes wide open. "I-I-I had no.. absolutely no idea.. I thought you were..." he cleared his throat and blushed darkly, feeling incredibly ashamed of the show he had just given Millie.
"Why are you home, I thought you were working today.." Kevin said in a much quieter voice.
She winced and backed away, his reaction both amusing and bewildering. It wasn't like she hadn't seen him mostly naked, or dithering about a date, pretty much the two most embarrassing states as far as she was concerned. "Clearly." She said, her voice as dry as the Mojave. "Fortunately for you, I only just now remembered Dad's camera." She would have had no qualms about taking pictures, but saving it for when Kevin was finally less uptight about something so silly.
She made a dismissive gesture. "I'm sick. Or at least contagious, is what they said. So they sent me home." Disgust was heavy in her voice, both for the powers that be not finding a use for her, and for her own body's failing. "What about you?"
"Oh," he paled slightly as she mentioned the camera but did relax overall. "Um, I did some overtime on monday. And I asked if I could come back home early and I.. I did some cleaning thinking you'd like to come home to something clean." Kevin bit his lower lip. For some reason he was kind of shy about the reasons of his cleaning and bad singing.
"Well, um. I have a pie in the oven." he said kind of lamely. "Do you want something to eat? I could fix something easy like a veggie soup or something."
Kevin listened to her explaination and concluded quickly that it couldn't be lust. Lust was physical, sexual and even though he did think Padma had an incredible body and that he pretty much loved having her close that, no, it couldn't be lust.
"I think I'm going to explode. How can someone feel so much at the same time, it's.." Irrational.. he almost answered.
She snorted. "That's lust in my dictionary, unless you mean explode in a different way. Then its love, or whatever you want to call it. Pre-love." She was far more entertained by this than she thought possible. It made up for her boredom.
"I feel like banging my head onto a wall, Millie. Well right now I do." he answered, crossing his arms. "I don't think of her.. privately if I can say so. Well, sometimes.. but that not the only thing it's just.. "
Kevin sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I had.. physical attraction before." he was leaving out the details but it was the overall story that mattered. "But this time it's-it's different. Really, I have to restrain myself from showing up on her doorstep. I- bloody hell, Millie.."
She listened to him, smiling a bit at how besotted he sounded, and how befuddled. "Of course not." He was too much of a gentleman. She wondered if Stephen was the same way. She'd not seen him in over a week, had been too busy and too tired to go back to Utopia, but soon.
She nodded, unsurprised. He'd have to be dead from the waist down to not notice girls. She'd yet to meet a guy.... well, straight guy, she mentally amended, who didn't get that way.
"Sorry, a bit out of my realm of experience." She said. Truthfully, it sounded like hormones were doing war with his overdeveloped sense of propriety, but he wouldn't see it that way. "Remember, I've never dated. My knowledge is from a book, and likely not helpful with this."
"Of course there will be a next time. I'm not a Ravenclaw just because I look good in blue." he joked, chuckling as he banished the pie. "I do not accept failure as far as I'm concerned."
Millie just smiled and loaded her casserole into the oven. Task finished, she looked around for something to do. Seeing nothing she sighed. "Guess I'll go reorganize my room." Again.
Kevin smiled at Millie and shook his head. "Like there is anything that needs more organization. If there is something Slytherins and Ravenclaws share, it's that."
"I wouldn't attribute that to Slytherin. I mean, you've seen Tracey's room. We just like to control certain things." She had little else she could control, so she controlled her home in a way.
"I'm just tired of reading, and if I sleep it'll mess me all up, and.... bugger it. I don't care if they think I'm sick. I'm going flying." She said suddenly, moving towards the closet where she kept her broom.
