Seamus was really rather tickled. It wasn't every day you got memorialized in a painting, after all. It wasn't like when Dean would sketch the Gryffindors on his little pad. This was meaningful, sort of. It was kind of nice being part of Dean's project.

He'd been surprised they weren't just going to do the painting at home, but the Hog's Head seemed like a good place, as well. A big part of that last year, when you really thought about it, even if it did sort of remind him of the fact that Dean hadn't been here at the time. And what it had been like not knowing if Dean was alive or dead.

Still, they were both here now, which was what mattered. "Don't have to tell me twice," Seamus said as he walked to the bar to order a pint. "Free ale should make up for all that sittin' still."

After getting his easel set up in a good spot, trying to both catch good light and avoid being completely in the way, Dean started to unpack his paints and brushes, laying them out on a nearby table. Hopefully he and Seamus would go through enough beer and food that Abeforth wouldn't mind the loss of two tables on a Saturday night. Though he was still stuffed at the moment--Grams had brought by her usual feast of food for him to bring home that evening--he was sure a couple of hours of painting would renew his appetite well enough.

"You don't have to sit exactly still," he said once Seamus had returned from the bar. "Just mostly in the same spot."

Dean grabbed his wand and spoke a few words, then tapped the canvas. He might not be able to do magical paintings yet, but he had learned a few useful tricks already, and prepping a canvas was one at which he'd become quite adept. Sure beat using Muggle primer. He glanced up as Seamus sat down, considering. "Try the other chair. Yeah, I think that one's better."

"Same spot?" Seamus snorted and nodded. "I can manage that, I figure. And here I was thinking my arse would be numb by the time you were done."

He looked on curiously as Dean set about his preparations, doing some kind of magical shite to the the canvas. "This painting going to move, then?" he wondered, dropping down into the nearest available chair. Dean told him another chair would be better, and so he hopped up and took the other one instead, smirking. "Better light over here, or somethin'?"

Seamus didn't know if his talking would distract Dean from his task or not, but he figured if it bothered Dean, he'd say so. He didn't fancy sitting in silence the whole time, and he was maybe a bit nervous. He'd never sat for a painting before and wasn't sure how it was supposed to go.

"No, it's not going to move," Dean said, though wishing not for the first time that he was able to do that sort of thing already. He was getting there, was picking up on things quite well, according to Carine, but it would still be several months, if not longer, before he could attempt a true magical painting. "Wouldn't be doing the world a favour if I painted a walking and talking version of you, now would I?"

He smirked then shook his head. "No, not better light. I'm just thinking about trying something out, and I want that chair empty." He pointed, then went back to his supplies. Squirting out some paint and choosing a brush with a small tip, he looked up at the scene and went ahead with roughing out the pub on the canvas.

After a minute he looked at Seamus, chuckling a bit. "It's not an exam, Finnigan. You're allowed to talk or whatever. Just a night out at the pub with your best mate, yeah?" Dean moved to lining out the table and finally started on Seamus himself. "Just let me know if you want a break."
