Irma had decided to spend more time near Hogwarts, even though school was out for the summer. She enjoyed spending time with Lucy, but she had been feeling restless lately and had even thought about finding a flat in town for the summer. Cambridge was fun, but maybe it was time to live on her own for a bit.
She stopped in the Spotted Cow for some chocolate ice cream, and spied someone knitting out of the corner of her eye.
"Good afternoon Miss Abbott. What sort of project have you started on?"
Hannah had just finished counting stitches. She was glad she had taken all her needles with her, she needed some of the big ones for this.
She looked up when she heard her name, her hands holding the needles and the wool tightly.
"Hello, Madam Pince," she said pleasantly, "I am starting on a throw for the back of my couch." She held up her project. "I hope it will be done by the time autumn arrives." She smiled.
Irma grinned. "Your theory seems sound, Miss Abbott. By the time it starts to cool off, your throw should be long enough that you won't be too warm with a lapful of wool." Irma tended to work on smaller, lighter projects during the warmer months. Maybe she'd stop into Weaver's and pick up some angora for a pair of mittens.
Hannah blushed. "It is more that I tend to forget about my knitting projects a lot," she mumbled but grinned sheepishly.
She looked up. "On this? Just a few minutes. My mum taught me before I went to Hogwarts. Everyone and their brother has got an scarf that year for Christmas."
