When Minerva had announced last week that work would begin on Sunday to clear the debris from Hagrid's burned hut, she had expected that the large man would want to talk her out of it.

"Yeh don' need ter be doin' that Professor. I reckon I can do it meself jus' fine," Hagrid said.

"I know you can, Hagrid. I think your friends would like to help, don't you?" Minerva asked kindly.

"Gallopin' gargoyles, it innit righ' ter be takin' people away from fixin' the castle," the large man balked.

"Hagrid, people need to feel like they're helping. We've been working on the castle for over three weeks now. Even though it looks better, there is still so much to do that some people are starting to feel a little let down that there isn't more tangible evidence of their work. If we take the next week or two to clear and rebuild your hut while the greenhouse glass is replaced and Ravenclaw Tower is finished, our volunteers will be able to see how much as been done and feel hopeful that things are getting better," Minerva was going to have folks working on his hut whether he agreed or not, but it would be much easier with his cooperation than without it.

"My hut's not worth all tha'..." but Minerva noticed that he finally looked like he could be convinced, so she swooped in with her best arguments. The creatures he was so fond of.

"Hagrid, don't you think that Fang would like to have his home back? He isn't very happy living in the castle. And what about all the creatures in the forest? You can't bring them inside the castle if they're injured. They don't like coming so close. You'll need your home if you're to help them." Minerva smiled at him, "I think your hut is very important, Hagrid. Let us rebuilt it for you. Please?"

"All righ', Professor. Yeh'd be havin' me convinced of the righ' of it." Minerva was pleased that obstacle was out of the way.

Early Sunday morning, Filius and Minerva moved down to the charred ruin to get things underway and found that the elves had setup a canvas shelter with some fruits, biscuits and water nearby. It was already fairly warm and the sky overcast. The gentle breeze was enough to keep people comfortable, but was likely to make things extra messy as it stirred up the ash and soot, as evidenced by the way it was blowing around where Hagrid was busy scooping and clearing away the mess.

The stone ruins of the fireplace would have to be dismantled, but Minerva thought that most of the stones could be reused if they were stacked off to the side, and it was there that she started her own work on clearing her large friend's home.
