Date: Saturday, April 27, 1999 Characters: Cho Chang, Lavender Brown Location: Fine Shoes, Diagon Alley Status: Private Summary: Cho and Lavender meet while shopping. Completion: Complete
Lavender felt good after yesterday run-in with Lisa and the decision to have a joint birthday party. It would certainly make a difference after last year's hiding in the Room of Requirement where most people probably hadn't known it was her birthday and wouldn't have been able to do anything if it was. Lisa needed to celebrate after last year, too.
The thought of the party had made work fun today, too, as Lavender had wondered what sort of things she might be able to get away with for decorating Utopia. She still hadn't had a chance to talk to George about her hours at work, and kept putting it off, if she was honest. It just never seemed quite the right moment.
She didn't need shoes. But she wanted them. She wanted something fun to wear to work, because the shoes she wore a lot were getting a bit old and really, she didn't think that she could work where she did and have boring shoes. Wearing such bright robes, it was always fun trying to accessorize, too.
Hearing her name, she looked up. "Hello, Cho. I haven't seen you for ages."
She realized she hadn't seen Lavender since she had returned from Glasgow. “It has been a while. I went home after the exams but moved back to Hogsmeade a month ago. How have you doing?”
She couldn’t help admiring the shoes Lavender was trying on. “Those are nice. I love that colour.” She looked around to see what other colour options were available in that style. “What would you wear them with?” She already knew she wasn't making it out of the shop with only sensible shoes.
Cho picked up a pair of shoes from a shelf to take a closer look. “Do you like living in London? I considered it before moving but found it more costly than Hogsmeade.” She toed one of her shoes off and slipped on one in crimson red.
“I saw George when I first moved back and he mentioned you worked for him. That has to be a fun place to work.” She looked over at Lavender’s shoes again. “I would have never thought of magenta and green together,” she grinned, “but being opposite hues on the colour wheel, means they are complementary colours.” She tried on the second shoe and took a few steps. "These are pretty comfortable."

"I'll probably wear them to work." They were a deep, luscious green. "I work for George Weasley, so they'll clash wonderfully with my magenta robes."
