Millie stared at the stacks of books, dazed with exhaustion. Her first day at St. Mungo's had been a relatively short shift, just 8 hours, but it had mostly been orientation, setting schedules, learning routines and who to answer to, and getting her reading list. She'd be sitting classes first thing in the mornings on the aspects of mediwitchery not covered at Hogwarts, and she'd need to do more than just the in-class reading to be able to keep up, she was informed by her instructor. So she was here at Flourish and Blotts, in the medical section, staring at the stacks of books, list in hand, and she couldn't move.
"Human Anatomy, Understanding Wizarding Medicine, A Potion for Every Ill..." She mumbled under her breath, trying to find the titles, but her brain couldn't focus.
Marcus felt weirdly nervous as he walked into Flourish and Blotts. He couldn't remember the last time he had been in here. In fact . . . had he ever been here before?
He supposed he must have been to buy his books for school but he almost felt like walking back out the door. Everyone seemed so quiet and focused. It just wasn't natural.
Marcus tried to focus on the book titles in the hopes of quickly finding something on broomstick repair. He scanned the books quickly, walking along with his head to one side, not looking where he was going.
Millie felt someone run into her, nearly knocking her off her feet. She put an arm out to catch herself and pushed back with the other, nearly snarling. "Watch where you're going, idiot." She caught sight of who it was, and was torn between scowling and snickering.
"Lost, Flint? In case you haven't noticed, this isn't Quidditch Quality Supplies." Smirking won out despite the tiredness leeching heat from her voice.
Marcus looked up with surprise and felt his face flush slightly at having walked into someone. He hated feeling embarrassment, and he scowled at the other person, before realising it was an old house mate he had walked into.
"Millicent," he said, almost feeling happy to see a familiar face after so long feeling isolated from everyone. He kept the frown on his face, however.
"I don't work at Quidditch Quality Supplies anymore, and I wouldn't be seen dead in that place. I'm looking for something on broomstick repair, if it's anything to you."

None of these seemed right at all.
