Verity looked up from the box of sweets she was filling for a giggling young woman, raising one eyebrow at the woman walking through the door. Older than probably any of their customers, but... She shrugged and tucked the box into the young woman's bag, passing it over with a smile and thanks.

She tucked bright purple hair behind one ear, heading for the new customer. "Hello. Welcome to Wheezes. What can I help you with today?"

Merlin, how could anyone think in this place? As soon as she entered, there were hovering things, dangly things, flashing things and sparkly things everywhere. It was absolute chaos! It took Muriel a few moments to realise she was being addressed, and even then she had to blink, because girl talking to her had purple hair, and it was... well, as blinding as the rest of the shop.

"Excuse me, sorry. I... this is quite a place. I'm looking for my nephew. For George."

Verity put out a cautious hand; she wasn't sure if this woman was going to faint or what, as she looked around the shop, blinking. She opened her mouth to ask if she was quite all right, but it changed to a smile as the woman spoke.

Looking for my nephew... Oh, that was a relief.

"I'm not sure if Mr. Weasley is downstairs or where, but..." She glanced toward the brightly animated shop, then beckoned the woman to follow her. "Please, come with me? I'll find him for you..."

She headed for the curtain that separated the backroom from the shop and pulled it aside, giving the woman an encouraging nod when she seemed to hesitate. "Just through here..."

The girl looked worried. About what? Muriel was perfectly fine, just not accustomed to décor this, well, loud. She hadn't considered that George might not be here. Didn't know what she'd thought, really - that he spent his entire life at the store?

When the girl pulled the curtain aside, however...

It looked rather small back there, and confined spaces were not her thing. Especially not with a nephew like George who might be inclined to test something on her.

But she'd look like a fool if she refused to go in, wouldn't she? She hadn't come into the store only to change her mind. And come to think of it, the worry on this girl's face had probably been something to do with Muriel's age, and she wouldn't stand for that.

"Thank you," she replied, a trifle coolly, and slipped into the back room.

"Fundraiser?" George raised an eyebrow, imagining Aunt Muriel and her friends playing the pipeworks game, or Exploding Snap. "Like...everyone pays to play, or something?"

He nodded at her question of tea, gesturing toward the back with one hand. "You know, if you come up with something, I'll be glad to donate a few sets of whatever you like, if it'll help." He pulled the curtain aside and ushered her through, then headed for the corner and a small cupboard, rummaging for a clean cup.

The search yielded Ron's bright mug, still in its wrapper, and George blessed his brother for not having used it. A quick rinse, and he filled it with whatever tea Verity had brewed, then levitated a handful of biscuits onto a paper plate.

"Something like that," she replied. "I haven't thought it through that far yet, but a donation at the door would probably work." How to get the word out amongst people younger than her contemporaries would be the trick, but she needed things to do, and planning social gathering was one of her fortes ( ... )

George filled his own mug and took a drink, watching her over the rim of his cup as she checked out the biscuits, but they were ordinary thin crisps, straight out of the box. He reached for one and took a bite, giving her a cheeky look and sank into the other chair. "They're safe, seriously," he mumbled around the mouthful, then shrugged. "Gotta have something around safe to eat..."

He took another sip, watching his aunt. Great Aunt Muriel, in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. He shook his head, still unable to properly believe it.

And then she asked. "Not working? When's that?" He chuckled, then shrugged. "Been working on new stuff most evenings, but that's still work, I guess. Take a fly, once in a while, or hang around with Lee. He's been working late nights too, though, so I might as well work, as sit around watching the plaster crumble..."

When he caught her looking sideways at the biscuits, she glanced away quickly, trying to look innocent, but she couldn't help a smile.

"All right, I believe you." She picked one up. "You'll have to forgive me; I'm Slytherin. Self-preservation dies hard." She dunked the biscuit in her tea, took a bite.

At his words, she felt her eyebrow arch minutely. So, what she'd suspected had been right. How to clarify? What word did people use these days?

"Lee is your... partner?"

Pish? George couldn't help a grin at that. Who talked like that anymore? Well, Aunt Muriel, he guessed...

"Yeah," he agreed, thoughtfully, thinking about the shrink. Healer. Whatever he was... "I like trees and all, but..." He gave her a bit of a smile, then reached for another biscuit. "It sure couldn't hurt."

He turned his thoughts to the party. The most abstract idea now, really, just random thoughts, but he was becoming more determined that it should happen. "Something special. Loud. Music and food and stuff. Fireworks..." He glanced up at Muriel. "You'd come, yeah?"

"But aside from wands and pencils, you wouldn't want to hold one?" she smiled.

She picked up another biscuit, sipped her tea. Was surprised when he asked her if she'd come to his birthday party.

"Of course," she replied. "Presuming I won't be the only person over the age of twenty-five in attendance."

George chuckled. He wasn't sure how many there would be that were over twenty-five, but surely there must be someone...? "Well, I'm sure Mum will be there..."

He snorted and reached for another biscuit, ducking just in case.

Auntie Muriel was turning out to be a pretty cool bird...
