Muggle Studies had been one of Susan's favorite classes until the Carrows took over. She remembered several days when Professor Burbage brought out a Muggle gramophone and flat black discs of something called vinyl. The Muggles had learned of a way to imprint music on the disc, and Professor Burbage played that music for them while discussing the Muggle creative process and thirst for discovery and learning.

They had played one of those songs at Justin's memorial service earlier today. Justin had been Muggleborn and had already been aware of many of the musical groups Professor Burbage had introduced his classmates to. One of his favorite bands had been a group called Queen, and the song played was called "No One But You (Only the Good Die Young). The music had played during a video presentation of Justin's life, showing him as a smiling infant, a playful toddler, and various images of his pre-Hogwarts schoolboy days. He was shown at work, at play, at rest, always smiling, always happy.

Susan hadn't been the only one in tears by the end of the presentation.

There had been no body. The explanation Justin's parents gave the Muggle mourners crowding the church in Cambridge was that he had been lost at sea in a boating accident, trying to save a fellow schoolmate. It wasn't far from the truth, save the accidental part. His parents knew the real circumstances, and Susan hadn't stayed long after the memorial service, shaken by the silent accusations in Justin's mother's eyes. Her son had been killed by people from another world, one she could never fully understand; and Susan doubted that she'd ever want to, now. She couldn't really blame her.

It had been something of a relief to return to Hogwarts, where Greenhouse One waited. The day was overcast, with a light rain falling, and so the greenhouse had been completely cleared of debris and broken glass, the stone floor covered with blankets. A table along one wall groaned beneath the weight of sandwiches, biscuits, scones, bowls of fresh fruit and plates of cheeses. There was lemonade, pumpkin juice, and bottomless pots of coffee and tea for those who preferred their beverages hot.

It was here, Susan hoped, that the other half of Justin's heritage would be remembered. He'd loved to laugh, she recalled; and he'd loved Herbology. She thought this place was fitting. She hoped the others would, as well.

Because it wasn't just Justin they wanted to remember, it was all the other Hufflepuffs who had fought and fallen. Cedric, Tonks, Megan...it was as much for them as it was for Justin. Hufflepuffs looked after their own, and they always did it together. Justin wouldn't have expected anything less.
