Blimey. Was no one out tonight?

Seamus walked through Hogsmeade, looking for someone he knew. A Friday night wasn't for revising, far as he was concerned. He'd gone home briefly after work, but hadn't seen either of the other lads. Unwilling to sit around at home, he went looking for some excitement.

Since he'd been to the Three Broomsticks only yesterday, he decided to go to the Hog's Head, say hullo to Ab, and see if anyone was hanging about there. He went straight to the bar, taking a seat and ordering a pint of Guinness. Looking to his left, he spotted Mandy Brocklehurst, whom he only really knew from common classes at Hogwarts. He sent her a nod. "Alright?"

"Alright. It's Friday, isn't it?" she said, cheerily. At least she didn't have to write an essay tonight, even if she did have to get up in the morning for work.

"What about you, Finnigan? Glad to be done lessons for the week?"

It was Friday, which meant that Michael had survived another week of classes and work. Somehow. A pint seemed to be in order. He debated stopping at the Three Broomsticks, but decided to live a little and go to the Hog's Head instead.

He stood in the doorway for a minute and waited for his eyes to adjust to the dimness of the bar. He spied Mandy Brocklehurst sitting at the bar and grabbed the next stool over. "Oi, Brocklehurst! Long time no see!"

Katie decided that spending another Friday night petting Fife absentmindedly while he chewed on George's pants was going to make her barmy. She wanted to go to the Three Broomsticks, but she wasn't sure if she could brave it on her own. She was still feeling skittish about seeing Rosmerta, and so she headed over to the Hog's Head.

She opened the door and checked on the threshold. Sitting at the bar was Mandy Brocklehurst bookended by Seamus and Michael. Should have gone to the Three Broomsticks, she thought to herself. She'd had fun with Seamus on Wednesday, but she didn't want to test this fragile new truce they seemed to have by drinking together. And Michael was Terry's best friend; depending on what Terry had told him, he might want to give her a talking-to. She didn't have a problem with Mandy, but she couldn't very well talk to her without either bloke noticing ( ... )

Michael couldn't decide if looking over both shoulders to see what was going on behind him was an old habit from living at the castle last year or a new, Auror wannabe habit. Either way, he kept an eye on the other patrons.

He heard the door open and checked out the new arrivals. Bugger! Katie Bell! He thought Terry was doing better this week, but he couldn't help wondering what he'd seen in the bird in the first place. Who wanted a girlfriend who was better than you at Quidditch, anyway? She looked like she was trying to blend into the woodwork. That wasn't very Gryffindor, now, was it?

"Hey, Bell!!! Come join us at the bar, will you?"

"Hiya, Michael, how goes?" she asked. "Haven't been out and about much. Too busy with work and revisions, you know, but tonight... treating myself."

Mandy grinned.

Just then, Mandy noticed Katie Bell wander in. She hadn't talked to her much, but of course knew her as Terry's now former girlfriend and was in a few of the same lessons. She wasn't sure whether to invite her to join them or ignore her, so she nodded her head, smiling, in Katie's general direction.
